In the commotion of the ever-changing indie rock scene, tranquil and refreshing ambient sextet Lydia arise poised. Boasting soft male vs. female vocals over a moody, introspective wall of sound led by melodic guitars and keys, this group of high school friends have garnered some serious buzz in the underground with their compelling songs and tender approach. Formed in 2003 in Gilbert, AZ, the band underwent a few shake-ups before settling on its current roster: lead vocalist/ guitarist Leighton Antelman, back up vocalist/ keyboardist Mindy White, guitarists Steve McGraw and Ethan Koozer, bassist Jed Dunning and drummer Craig Taylor. In 2004, Lydia won a contest with Blink-182 owned Atticus Clothing, resulting in their appropriately titled track "Your Taste Is My Attention" being included on the Atticus compilation Drag the Lake, Vol. 3. Their debut album, This December: It's One More and I'm Free was released on HourZero that following year, and Lydia hit the open road with notable slots on the Zumiez Couch Tour, Vans Warped Tour and Bamboozle Festival. In Fall '07, Lydia signed to Indie label Linc Star Records. In March of '08, they released their sophomore effort, "Illuminate", to heavy critical acclaim. Look for Lydia on the road in Summer of '08 in support of "Illuminate"...and see why the album has been considered an early contender for Absolute Punk's "Album of the Year" (Jason Tate, CEO/Founder Absolute Punk).
In a city where bands are about as original as the coffee they drink, Fight the Current brings something new to the table. With their own brand of alternative rock driven by a timeless sense of acoustic pop, Fight the Current has exploded onto the music scene of Seattle and has quickly become one of the fastest growing bands of the area. It all started with a guy and his guitar... Lead guitarist, song writer, and founder of the band, James Reber began writing music in 2007, with a close friend and fellow musician, the two quickly bonded musically and with producer Dylan Fant, produced music that began to gain some momentum. In a music scene that was spewing out more of the same, and where musical depth beyond that of a kiddy pool was hard to find, the group now named Fight the Current (quite fittingly) began to push some of these lines set by the music industry. In 2009 the band found a solid lineup with lead vocalist Tim Tourje and bass guitarist Alex Buck, after releasing their second album Fight the Current, began supporting industry icons such as Rooney, Marcy Playground, The Classic Crime, Cute is What We Aim For, Project 86, The Calling, Lydia, Seabird and many other large acts. Having become one of the most respected bands in the area, bringing out consistent fans, the band has now begun moving on to bigger and better things. 2010 will be a defining year in the legacy of this musical machine. With their junior effort's release planned for summer 2010, the band is currently collaboratively working towards what they consider to be their best work yet. With Seattle conquered, the band will now be focusing on playing for their many fans around the country. Don't be surprised if you start hearing this band's name on people's tongues, because with musical depth and energy like this, its going to spread like wildfire.
Man Without Wax is a 5-piece rock band from the Pacific Northwest.
Our Name: In ancient times, dishonest sculptors in Spain would patch their mistakes with wax, or in Spanish -- "cera". When a marble statue was carved without wax or "sin cera", it signified something flawless or true. Some historians view this as the origin of the English word, sincere.
Spencer Mertel (Vocals) Chris Bateson (Guitar, Vocals) Rory Menteer (Guitar) Chip Burgess (Drums) Chris Paxton (Bass)
Our story has come along way. From our beginnings in our parents' garage, to playing rock and roll shows around the entire country. Here we are now... older and committed as ever to continue sharing our art. The journey that led us to this point had its ups-and-downs, yet our love for playing music remains strong. At times every member of this band has felt scared or alone, but only through each other have we overcome many personal and professional battles. As a group we have finally found peace with what this band is all about, and we thank you for your continued support.
After touring for our last record, we've taken some much needed time-off to focus on writing new music. This is where the blog comes in. We will share new demos, post video updates, and most importantly interact with our listeners. Come join us on our journey towards our next release.
